Sheaves (Marc)

Strongly influenced by Vincent van Gogh, Franz Marc here paints sheaves of wheat with palpable energy and passion. The brushwork is thick, directional, and swirling, each stroke capturing the texture of the straw and the intensity of the sunlight. The sheaf in the foreground is an explosion of yellows, ochers, and whites, seeming to almost come to life before our eyes.
