The fresco unfolds in a green landscape dominated by a grove of majestic trees whose foliage rises towards a clear sky. In the center of the composition, Moses helps the daughters of Jethro water their flocks of sheep near a stone well, opposing the hostile shepherds. On the left, he is depicted fleeing Egypt after slaying a guard, then removing his sandals before the Burning Bush that blazes on a rocky mound. On the right, he leads the Hebrew people out of Egypt, walking at the head of a compact procession of men, women, and children. An elegant classical pillared building delimits the scene on the right edge, bringing a structural rigor to this continuous spatial narrative.
