This second cropped version of Franz von Stuck’s artwork “Samson”, in a perfectly square format, focuses exclusively on the incredible tension of the hand-to-hand combat. By removing the text and side borders, the artist thrusts us closer to the violence of the scene. The tense, bulging muscles of Samson’s back and arms, illuminated by a warm light, form a true architecture of strength striking down the dark mass of the feline.
