Nestle’s Food* by Alfons Mucha

This superb decorative illustration explores the themes of childhood and benevolence in a purely allegorical style. The famous poster artist Alphonse Mucha delivers here a composition entitled “Nestle’s Food” which focuses entirely on the harmony of forms and hues without top textual artifice. Her half-closed eyes look down at the bowl she stirs gently in the foreground. A young child with light hair is settled below, wrapped in white linens and cushions decorated with crossed red stitching. On the left side, a brown cardboard package integrates naturally into the sinuous lines of the fabric. The background features a sumptuous rose window of bluish mosaics and trilobed motifs, crowned by two white birds sculpted in the upper border gracefully spreading their feathers.
