Inferno (Stuck)

A masterful and agonizing canvas, Franz von Stuck’s “Inferno” is a nightmarish vision of hell. In an oppressive space, a mass of naked bodies, with livid and grayish hues, writhe in despair and pain. On the right, a woman is entwined by a giant snake with blue scales, an evocation of damnation and lust.
