Entry of Charles V into Paris by Jean Fouquet

On the right, heralds mounted on grey horses brandish large blue fleur-de-lis banners toward the castle’s fortified gate. The grey wall is carved with a bas-relief depicting sacred figures, under a clear blue sky. A dense crowd of spectators watches the parade in a respectful attitude.
