English Landscape with a Palace by Canaletto

This captivating painting is fully part of the capriccio genre, a poetic branch of eighteenth-century Italian vedutismo. Under the temporary name of “English Landscape with a Palace”, the famous landscape painter Canaletto composes an imaginary landscape of striking classical nobility.
