Canal of Overschie de Paul Signac

This magnificent northern landscape by Paul Signac illustrates his study travels and his adaptation of the pointillist technique to cooler, more humid atmospheres. The artist depicts a famous Dutch motif under the evocative title of “Canal of Overschie”, capturing the melancholic poetry of the canals of North Holland. This canvas shows how divisionism can translate the transparency of air and the fluidity of water under other latitudes.
