Beach in Normandy by Gustave Courbet

This Norman seascape bears witness to the renewal of the coastal landscape initiated by the Realist movement, of which the painter Gustave Courbet was the leading French figure. The painting named “Beach in Normandy” reflects the artist’s interest in the daily life of fishermen and the wild shores of Étretat.
