The concept of Pop art is represented by artists in the attitude given to the work rather than by the work of art itself. It is an artistic movement that emerged in the mid-1950s in Great Britain and in parallel towards the end of the 1950s in the United States. It is one of the main artistic movements of the 20^th century. Characterized by themes and techniques drawn from popular mass culture, such as advertising, comic strips and mundane cultural objects.

Pop art is largely interpreted as a reaction to the dominant ideas of abstract expressionism. Most Pop art works are considered incongruous because the design practices that are used make it difficult for some to understand them.
