Botticelli Sandro
Trained in the workshop of Fra Filippo Lippi in Florence, Alessandro di Mariano di Vanni Filipepi developed his art under the patronage of the Medici family. Active during the second half of the fifteenth century in Italy, the artist established himself through the grace of his line and the delicacy of his mythological compositions. His artistic career aligns fully with the Italian Renaissance movement. This production inspired by humanism renewed Florentine aesthetics.

The artist’s distinctive painting style is characterized by the fluidity of supple lines, the lyricism of delicate draperies, and the melancholic elegance of expressive figures across various painted wooden panels. His luminous palette favors refined tones and subtly softened poetic landscapes that enhance narrative depth. Mythological allegory is masterfully illustrated in “Allegory of Spring”, where deities dance within a vernal grove. Ethereal grace reaches its peak in “The Birth of Venus”, depicting the goddess emerging from the waves upon a scallop shell. Moral and philosophical tension manifests in “Pallas and the Centaur”. Finally, narrative virtuosity unfolds in “Calumny of Apelles”.

As an undisputed master of the Florentine Quattrocento, the painter exerted lasting influence on generations of artists of his time and subsequent centuries. His refined compositions marked Western art history. His pictorial legacy remains an essential reference of the Renaissance.
Possessing a reproduction of a painting by Botticelli allows one to admire the delicacy of lines and grace of faces, faithfully restored through an oil painting on canvas.
