A roman art lover by Lawrence Alma-Tadema

We are invited here to attend a meeting of scholars within a sumptuous Roman atrium. Titled for the time being “A roman art lover”, this work perfectly illustrates the narrative and descriptive art of Lawrence Alma-Tadema, a leading figure of British Neo-Classicism. The painter explores the ancient high society’s fascination with statuary and art objects, staging a moment of intense intellectual exchange centered around plastic beauty and archaeological treasures of the period.
