This figurative work is inspired by traditional Khmer statuary, part of an artistic trend of rediscovering the historical heritage of Southeast Asia. Poetically titled “Buddha Painting 04”, the creation evokes the passage of time and the durability of sacred art through the ages. The composition combines the roughness of the sculpted stone and the softness of a worked background to arouse a feeling of deep inner peace.

The painting depicts the bust of a Buddha statue sculpted in stone, tilted three-quarters left against a beige and gray background. The face of the statue features soft traits, with lowered eyelids, a fine nose, and a serene smile typical of Angkor art. The texture of the stone is reproduced with great realism, showing shades of gray, cream, and earthy brown evoking the patina of centuries. Behind the head, a large circular halo adorned with sculpted spiral patterns stands out against a dark background of geometric waves. The shoulder and bust are draped in a simple monastic robe, whose light folds follow the shape of the sculpted body.
