The Virgin and Child with Three Angels by Sandro Botticelli

The Virgin Mary is shown kneeling in a three-quarter view, tilting her gentle face toward the infant Jesus who is about to be breastfed. She is adorned with a large dark blue mantle lined with red over a pleated scarlet dress, a delicate transparent veil covering her light hair. Before her, the small divine child is supported by a kneeling angel, while another angel on the left observes the scene with infinite devotion. A third angel, on the right, vigorously lifts the heavy curtain of a scarlet red velvet pavilion forming a majestic protective tent. In the background, a stone parapet opens onto a hilly landscape of green hills under a clear sky. A soft and heavenly light bathes the entire composition, illuminating the tender expressions.

The Florentine master showcases his exceptional craftsmanship in the complex spatial organization and the treatment of draperies.
