At the base of the waterfall, in vigorous churns of white foam and stylized droplets, several men dressed in simple loincloths perform a spiritual purification ritual. On either side of the torrent, traditional wooden buildings with yellow thatched roofs are built on the rocky banks, sheltering spectators and paper lanterns.
